Alisa Smith is an award-winning journalist and author.  Her novel Speakeasy was named a Top-20 Book of the Commonwealth by the Walter Scott Prize Academy. Her best-selling first book, The 100-Mile Diet: A Year of Local Eating (Random House, 2007), won the Roderick Haig-Brown Regional Prize, the American Cordon d’Or Award of Literary Merit, and was a Chapters/Indigo Book of the Decade. She has contributed to many publications including Outside, Reader's Digest, Canadian Geographic, Explore and the National Post, and she is the recipient of several National Magazine Awards. The sequel to Speakeasy, Doublespeak, will be published in 2019 by Douglas & McIntyre in Canada and Thomas Dunne/St. Martin's in New York. She lives in Vancouver, BC.
